Indian music

Musleah and Romiel, yes; but neither really conveys the flavour. I have
made several field recordings of Bombay Jews singing liturgical and
para-liturgical songs, unaccompanied, and have been to their services
many times here in Toronto; also of a Bombay woman singing old songs in
MArathi, the local dialect, which I recorded in Israel. I don't think
there are any recordings of these. One of the Israel videos by Tsipora
Jochsberger, I think the one of several cultures in Jerusalem, includes
a short sequence of Indian Jews with harmonium. Barabra Johnson has a
lot of field recordings of COchini Jews but again, not published to my
knowledge. The Phonoteka in Jerusalem (National Sound Archives) has a
lot of this material, if one is there.
