KlezKep and Listniks:
I recently acquired a 78 rpm recording
(Jubilee Records. USA. No Date. Yiddish/English)
entitled (I kid you not, Brandwine =patriotn=)
"Naf-Tully Calypso" by Lee Tully.
The Yiddish refrain, --perhaps the first
to address sexual dysfunction, -- goes:
"Ven ikh vil, vil zi nisht
Ven zi vil, ken ikh nisht
Oy, m' ken leben
Oyb m' lozt nisht"
("When I want to, she does not
When she wants to, I cannot
O, you could live
But they won't let you")
The only info on Tully I could find
on the WWW is a listing of a single
by him on an English oldies label.
Does anyone have any information about
this obscure, pioneering artist?
