On the heels of our November tour to the Czech Republic, The Netherlands and 
Sweden, we are very happy to be returning to Los Angeles to perform as part 
of Yiddishkayt Los Angeles' two-week seminar "THE ART OF YIDDISH:  CULTURAL 
NOURISHMENT FOR A NEW AGE."  You don't have to register for the entire two 
weeks to come to our concert, but please be sure to check out the details 
below for more information about this very exciting program.

the Winter:  "THE ART OF YIDDISH:  CULTURAL NOURISHMENT FOR A NEW AGE",  a
Two-Week Immersion in the Living Language, Theater, Film, and Song, December 
17 -
29, 2000, Santa Monica, California.  Offered by Yiddishkayt Los Angeles'
California Institute for Yiddish Language and Culture,  in collaboration with
UCLA Extension.

Language classes at four levels, from Beginners to Advanced, will be
taught by:
Pesakh Fiszman (Jewish Theological Seminary of New York);
Henia Lewin (University of Massachusetts, Hampshire College, National
Yiddish Book Center);
Sheyndl Liberman (University of Judaism and UCLA, Los Angeles); and
Yakob Basner (Workmen's Circle/Arbeter Ring, Los Angeles).

Comprehensive Seminars on:
 - Highlights of Yiddish Theater, with theater director and noted
authority on Yiddish theater, Sabell Bender.
 - Yiddish Expression, with internationally-known scholar and humorist,
Michael Wex.
 - Yiddish Cinema Between Two Worlds, with Sharon Pucker Rivo, National
Center for Jewish Film.

 - Theater and Song Workshops with tony-nominated actress and
co-artistic director of New York's Folksbiene Yiddish Theater, Eleanor
Reissa.
 - "Afternoon Tea With Sholem Aleichem" - performance lecture with
veteran Yiddish stage actor Yankev Lewin.
 - A Kaleidoscope of Yiddish Theater on film.  Yiddish Film screenings.
 - Origin and History of Yiddish, with Prof. Eli Katz, UC Berkeley.
 - Local Yiddish Culture, with Lilke Majsner, Director of the L.A.
Yiddish Culture Club.
 - Evening klezmer concerts and Guided Tours of Los Angeles' distinctive
cultural attractions.
Special events include a Khanuka concert with the dynamic klezmer duo Jeff
Warschauer and Deborah Struass (December 21), and a bi-lingual dramatic 
reading
from the new Yiddish translation "Vini-der-Pu" with Leonard Wolf and Eleanor
Reissa of New York's Di Goldene Pave Performance Troupe (December 23).

Fees:  $650/person or $1200 per couple; $350 for full-time students with
valid IDs (continuing education credit is available - Check with your
local Institution.)   Week-long cultural components (exclusive of language
instruction) range from $110/$95 for seniors.
