Ziggy Elman also played trumpet with Katz, but most likely you heard Mannie
Klein. If you're interested in the various line-ups on the different Katz
records, take a wander over to my Katz Haimishe Vebpage and look at the
Discography section.
Katz was at a Spike Jones RCA recording session and began entertaining some
of the other guys at the session (Klein included) with a couple of Yiddish
parodies he wrote, and that's basically how he got his own RCA recording
contract.  He later recorded for Capitol.
