=M E T R O P O L I T A N K L E Z M E R= brings their eclectic exuberance
to the John Drew Theater at East Hampton's Guild Hall on Friday, July 28 at
*8pm* (pls. note this TIME CHANGE from former 9pm listing). Guild Hall is at

The band's eight-piece all-star lineup at the venerable Guild Hall theater is
performing music from their latest release, "Mosaic Persuasion" (Rhythm Media
Records, distribution worldwide by Stern's Music Ltd in Fall 2000). In
preview airplay, *Mosaic Persuasion* was just named to the Top 10 Worldbeat
list by leading alternative station WRUW-FM. The group's debut disc,
*Yiddish for Travelers,* is listed by THE ESSENTIAL KLEZMER (Algonquin Books,
2000) on its Essential Klezmer Library Top 20 klezmer CD's list, and
described by author Seth Rogovoy as "distinguished by just plain great,
versatile ensemble playing."
Richard Gehr of the VILLAGE VOICE cites the band's "excellent klezmer" as
offering "impeccably arranged yet electrifying renditions." Founded in 1994
by drummer Eve Sicular, Metropolitan Klezmer brings together top players from
New York's downtown and World Music scenes:

Getting to Guild Hall, East Hampton:
Take the Long Island Expressway (495) East to exit 70 (Manorville),
approximately 90 miles from NYC.
At the end of the off ramp, turn right (County Road 111 south).
Follow signs to Route 27 (Sunrise Highway) East.
Take 27 East through Southampton, Watermill, Bridgehampton, and Wainscott
[NOTE: especially on a summer Friday, the beach-weekend traffic here can be
intense... leave lots of time for this part!!]
When you reach East Hampton, you will come to a traffic light where you can
only turn left or right. Turn left and Guild Hall is located 3/4 mile down
the road on your right hand side past the pond and flagpole.
Guild Hall is a white brick building, #158 Main Street, with signs out fron
and is located directly accross the street from the East Hampton Library.
Parking behind building - immediately right off Pondview Lane.
