Re: At Last: Mickey Katz CD "Mickey Katz Greatest Shticks"

The greatest thing about Mickey Katz, as far as I'm concerned, is the way
he's connected my teenage kids with their Yiddish heritage with his witty
parodies of popular songs that they already know.

I told them that all eight of their great-grandparents were native
Yiddish-speakers who came to America from Eastern Europe. I played for them
Theodore Bikel, Ruth Rubin, Isa Kremer, Raasche, Wolf Krakowski, all the
greats but they were not impressed and they didn't connect ... until I put
on Mickey Katz's "The Most Mishige"! Instant hit. Now they're more open to
all things Yiddish.
