Finally available, for the first time on CD , some of Mickey's greatest 
comedy classic recordings this compilation of 16 Katz Klassics includes such 
favorites as,
Duvid Crockett, Knish Doctor, Borscht Riders In The Sky, She'll Be Coming 
'round The Katzkills, Yiddish Mule Train, Bagel Call Rag, and many more. 

The compilation consists of material recorded between 1950 and 1959. Mickey's 
band consisted of some of the top musicians in the business, and these 
recordings feature, amongst others, such greats as Mannie Klein, Ziggy Elman, 
and Si Zentner, who's smash hit record of the 60's, "Up A Lazy River",is 
still being played on "Oldie Rock & Roll" stations. 

The well written booklet, by Steven Lederman, contains a mini bio of Mickey 
and photos of some of his record covers. Mickey Katz was an important bridge 
to the "new sound' in Jewish music along with such artists as The Barry 
Sisters and The Barton Brothers (who were a major influence in Mickey's 
leaving the Spike Jones Band), and this collection is long overdue as a 
lasting tribute to a great musician/ humorist, and one hell of a nice guy!
