Dear Judith
The words El Ginat Egoz are from the Song of Songs, chapter 6 verse 11:
?El ginat Egoz Yaradeti, Lir?ot Be?ibey Hanahal, Lir?ot Haparcha Hagefen,
Henezu Harimonim?
As far as I remember that is it, no more words to the song but email to me
if you need more from that chapter.
By the way ? are you familier with the collection of Shirey Eretz (Israeli
songs) arranged by Menachem Wiesenberg, published by Israel Music for voice
and piano? This is the best collection of Israeli songs which I came across
and I sing them a lot and always perform one or more in my concerts. The
songs are arranged for voice and piano and each arrangement is done almost
at the level of Lieder, and my pianists love them ? so do the audiences.
There is one version for Soprano and one for Mezo.
These are some of the songs:
Nira Chen - ?My beloved is mine? from the songs of songs
Emanuel Amiran - ?Whither Your Beloved? from the Songs of Songs
Yoel Engel - ?Charm of Lullabies?, lyrics - Yehiel Halperin
David Zehavi - Caravan, lyrics - Jacob Fichman
Nachum Nardi - ?To the Desert?, Lyrics - Alexander Penn
Naomi Shemer - ?Lights Out?
David Zehavi - ?Eli Eli?, Lyrics - Hanna Szenes
Mordechai Ze?ira - ?What say your eyes?, Lyrics - Itzhak Shenhar
Alexander Argov - ?Song of Land?, Lyrics - Nathan Yonathan
I sell Israel Music Institute sheet music so if you are interested let me
know and I can make sure I have a copy here when you come to the Conference
in London in June.
Good luck with the concert...
Noa
