For what it's worth, in current Orthodox-Yiddish, "Klei-kodesh" - "holy
instrument" - is used for a person whose occupation is related to
religious practice - a sofer, a Yeshiva teacher, rabbi of shtiebel,
shochet, etc, the emphasis being on the person as a vehicle for
actualizing a holy goal/function, as the "klei zemer" actualized a
musical one.
