Maqam

The notes for "Tuning the Soul" state
"In Mizrachi and Sephardi communities, different maqamat are used each
week to chant the Sabbath prayers, giving tremendous musical variety
to their services."

Is this true?

Would someone please compare and contrast the use of maqam in these
services and the use of nusah in Ashkenazi services?

Would the term nusah also be used appropriately to refer to prayer
services in Mizrachi and Sephardi communities?

Where can we read more about these issues? (Besides responses to
these questions by list members.)
