"The Metropolitan Klezmer Band's YIDDISH FOR TRAVELERS is a travelogue
through klezmer history: classic songs and tunes from Europe, virtuoso
playing in the early 20th-century New York style of masters like Naftule
Brandwein, and even the juxtaposition of a traditional versio of 'Rozhinkes
Mit Mandlen' (Raisins and Almonds) with a finger-snapping jazz version of the
same tune."
-- Gideon Aronoff, THE FORWARD Music Section, 11/19/99

"Yiddish music has developed a multi-ethnic heritage along its route of
development. Metropolitan Klezmer embraces these varied aspects by exploring
the roots of wedding music, folk rituals, prayers, lullabies and the joyous
celebration of Yiddish history." -- Here's Music in Review E-zine, NOVEMBER
1999
