RE: Tzena, Tzena, Tzena, Tzena

Wolf, thanks for all these great posts! Any ideas about the Barry Sister's
song, "Vyoch Tyoch Tyoch" -- I'm looking for publishing credits (composer,
arr., etc...) and for lyrics (Yiddish & translation).

Thanks - have an easy fast.

Steve:

In the Weaver's Songbook (1960) the "Tzena (x3)"
I referred to previously on 78 rpm Decca recording, appears in print as:

"Tzena (x4)" -- and is credited : Music by Issachar Miron & Julius
Grossman
                                                       Hebrew Lyrics by
Yehiel Haggiz.
(Copyright 1950 Mills Music, Inc.)

By eliminating one little "Tzena" from the title, it appears "Ross and
Jenkins" credited as songwriters on the Weaver's recording, -- in
effect, "created" a completely different song! As far as the
Writer/Publisher royalties of a hit record were concerned, that is.

What do you think, Shira?
Did the Weavers unwittingly weave a wicked web
while publishers positioned themselves profitably
and record companies co-operated conspiratoriously?

My theory is the song was never registered properly in Palestine or
Israel when it was
written. When it was recorded in the USA, not having a publisher
presence in the music industry anywhere, it was perceived as being up
for grabs, legally.

What forces were really at work keeping these royalties from reaching
their rightful owners in the fragile, new State of Israel?

I reccomend the immediate estabishment of an International Tribunal to
research and reclaim any unlawfully inappropriate monies that may have
been
deviously diverted from the creators and legal owners of the
song "Tzena, Tzena, Tzena, Tzena" -- Messrs. Miron, Grossman, and Haggiz

Wolf
