klezmer/Celtic connection

While we are on the topic of Celtic/Klezmer crossover, does anyone know the 
history of Rebbe Abimelech?s Tanz.  The over and under figure done in the 
dance is exactly like the one done in the Irish Dance, Waves of Tory, from 
the Isle of Tory.  I think it also happens in other dances from the British 
Isles.  Somehow it made it?s way into the Chasidic community in Eastern 
Europe generations ago.
