Uskudar was already in the klezmer repertoire. Brandwein's 1920s recording
was preceded by Joseph Moskowitz's gorgeous 1917 cymbalom version (the
first half of "Medley of Turkish Melodies", anthologized on the "Art of the
Cymbalom" CD).
My personal favorite klez recording of Uskudar is the Andy Statman version
titled "In America", on his "Klezmer Suite" album.
