Dear Ms. Pinnolis:
I just perused The Jewish Music WebCenter. What a wonderful resource! Thank you for all your work.
Thank you very much for listing a bisl yidishkayt, too! May we make some minor corrections/suggestions?
Over half our recordings are klezmer in nature, i.e. in addition to the "Yiddish song [popular, folk, and theater], language, cantorial music" already listed. We have domestically produced klezmer, recordings from artists outside North America, as well as a comprehensive offering of klezmer recordings in print of immigrant klezmorim in the first years of this century.
Our article entitled "What is klezmer?" is, we hope, as useful to read as our glossary of klezmer forms. (The link to it appears on the home page directly beneath the large graphic of the pushcart.)
A dank nokh a mol (thank you again) un zayt gezunt (and be well),
Dena Ressler
P.S. We are happy to have been listed, and do not mean the above in any way as a criticism!
P.P.S. To hopefully save you a moment, here is the text of the existing listing
A website focused on Yiddish song, language, cantorial music. It provides information to obtain recordings, videos and
sheet music for klezmer, yiddish and cantorial works. Of special note is a glossary explaining the various types of klezmer dance tunes along with other forms and types of klezmer music. It includes listings of children's recordings and CDs of
humor in Yiddish.
