This is a story about Jerry Lee Lewis concerning stealing from
recording artists:

While at a gas-station some years back, Mr. Lewis noticed a display of
audiocassettes bearing his likeness; their shoddy graphics immediately
communicated "bootleg". After some words with the attendant, he
proceded to drag the entire rack outside and doused the cassettes with
gasoline. And then he lit a match.

When the station-attendant whined: "Well what am I going to tell the
man (who stocks the racks)?", Mr. Lewis replied: "Tell him The Killer
-as he is affectionately known to his fans- was here."

I am not suggesting you go into a Judaica store where your music is on
sale and do the same.

Get a good Music Business lawyer. Sue for damages -- unfair trade
practises, unauthorized duplication, non-payment of royalties and
emotional distress. Join forces with others in your position; class
action.
Also, when you see your CDs or cassettes in a store, inform the
owner/manager.

Mr. Lewis is not of the Jewish faith. I hope mentioning him on this
list does not distress anyone. His recording of A.Y. Harburg's
"Over The Rainbow" does, however, make him an artist with a connection
to Jewish music, (or music written by Jews).

If "White Christmas" is to be considered Jewish, as has been stated
by Steven Singer and Ari in previous postings, then so is
"Over The Rainbow". And so are any of the 36 (double khay) songs
written for Elvis by Ben Wienstein, including the unforgettable "Do The
Clam" -- issues of <kashrut> notwithstanding.
