alternate tuning on the fiddle

Right you are. Another alternate tuning that is used is to lower the A
string to an e and then move this string over closer to the e string.
Both these tunings are meant to evoke the sound of the east Roumainian
bagpipe. Funny how both the Irish and Rumanians try to make the fiddle
sound like the pipes ,on occasion.
