For those interested in string music with a Jewish connection, you might
try contacting
Music in Israel, P.O.B. 8215, Jerusalem 91081. In the late 80s they
produced several CDs of Israeli music including String Quartets by
Gelbrun, Sadai, and Sheriff performed by the Sol-La-Re Quartet and
String Trios by Natra, Partos, Seter, and Shalit performed by the Yuval
Trio.
Tower Records lists Lost in the Stars as available on CD for $12. Lost
In The Stars: The Music Of Kurt Weill, Various Artists - A&M Records 215
104 Distributor: Polygram
These are just some of many works which have been recorded (not to
mention the Theresienstadt and violin material). I have been collecting
such material for Jewish music talks but have not yet been able to find
the New Israel String Quartet recording of Tzvi Avni's Summer Strings,
Mordecai Seter's Ricercar, and Josef Tal's Quartet No.2 on RCA Victor
(Israel) ISZ 0013(LP). Can anyone help or recommend a source in the
States or in Israel for LPs (used is fine) or CDs?
