I hope this is considered suitable for this list. It involves Jews and
Music and Klezmer.
Last Mardi Gras we formed a marching group called the Krewe du Jieux. We
are a sub-group of the Krewe du Vieux. If you are familiar with New
Orleans you may know something about this. If you want more info you can
go to
http://www.kreweduvieux.org
or you can email me and I will send more info.
But briefly---- this parade is a parody on Mardi Gras.
Our theme is this year is House of Jieuxs. Last year it was a
superbowl theme--Offensive Linemen-- like David Duke and Farrakan.
We gave out hundreds of bagels. We painted the bagels gold and silver
and applied glitter designs on them. Mogen David's and 97. We have a
Klezmer group that marches with us.
The purpose of this mail to to let you know that you are welcome to
march with us, especially if you play an instrument We will march on
Feb. 7 sat after shabbos in the French Quarter (the Vieux Carre).
I hope this wont offend too many people-- but in Louisiana we say Le
Bon Temp Rolle
