niggunim

I like the series of tapes of breslover niggunim put out by the breslov
research institute (some of the arrangements are unusual, but it's a great
sources of melodies.) Also, there's a _wonderful_ tape recorded by ya'akov
Klein and Andy Statman ("Music of Breslover Hasidim: Today".)

There are some very nice tapes that gather music from various hassidic
traditions:

Dovid Zeller has some wonderful tapes of niggunim -- mostly from the
breslov, bobov hassidim and shlomo carlebach. (he also has a very nice
tape of spiritual music from other traditions.)

Zalman Schater-Shalomi put out a very nice tape of pre-holocaust hassidic
melodies. "Le Chayim"

I also like Velvel Pasternak's Hasidic Music: A joyous celebration.

In havurah circles, there are a couple of sources of niggunim & davenning
melodies. One put together by michael strassfeld as a fundraiser for the
national havurah committee: 101 Niggunim. also "The greater boston
davenen tape" by bill kavesh and alan rosen. i believe both of these are
still available from the NHC (e-mail 73073(dot)601 (at) compuserve(dot)com for
info.)

There are obviously a lot of other sources of niggunim... but these are
some you might not have bumped into....
