Appropriate discussion on this list

Well, yes, Steven, thank you for remembering who is supposed
to be making these decisions. And I'll say the same thing
I said last time some jerk found him or herself unable to
simply not read a post on a subject in which he or she
was uninterested, and tried to stop it using the cowardly
expedient of claiming that it was beyond the scope of this
mailing list.

As list owner, let me emphasize that regardless of how bored,
uninterested, or violently opposed I, or other people on the
list feel about a subject, unless I feel that malice is involved,
and so long as there is a thread, however slight it may seem to
me personally, to jewish music, then it is appropriate to this
list. This list exists to =encourage= discussion, not to box it,
categorize it, and only pull out the most acceptable topics and
responses on alternate khagim.

And if there is one thing that I find (sorry if I am repeating
myself) cowardly, inappropriate, and offensive it is when people
who have concerns about what is being discussed post their
disapproval on the list =not= as a disagreement with what is
being said, but from the shelter of, "gee, this is hardly
appropriate."

If you feel that there is a problem with some posts, let
me know by private e-mail. If I feel that there is, indeed,
a problem, I will e-mail the people involved. Any other
attempt to regulate what is discussed on this list =is=
inappropriate.

Clearly, this is a button, and this is the third time in
as many months that someone has pushed it. I expect it
to be pushed again, but would not mind it taking some
time.
