Very interesting that you're writing about Gusikov. I gave a lecture about
him a couple of years ago at
the Percussion International convention in Atlanta, after visiting his
grave in Aachen and meeting with
his descendants in Bonn. Of course, they're no longer Jewish, though his
descendants in America
are both Jewish AND musicians. In your opinion, is he the most noteworthy
'klezmer' of the last century?

Translating Stempeniu - that sounds like a challenge. From the Yiddish? I
would imagine copious notes
are necessary. You didn't mention when that "gasp of breath" might be. Next
year? next month? next week?
