A friend and I are looking for amateur musicians living in the
Chicagoland area, who would like to play some klezmer music for casual fun,
and maybe see where it goes from there. Both of us have played primarily
classical and jazz, and we are just now starting to learn how to play in the
klezmer style, as well as learning the repertoire. He (Burt) plays bass,
clarinet, tenor sax, piano and tuba, and I play clarinet, alto and tenor
sax, and piano. I should stress that we are AMATEURS who just want to play
for fun, and we'd like to play both standards and originals. Our focus
seems to be playing straight klezmer, as well as mixing influences of
straight-up, free and avant garde jazz, funk, whatever fits! If you are
interested, send me an e-mail. Thanks.
