Because, (a) the structure of a newsgroup makes it impossible
to control postings to it, and (b) the gaonim at shamash.org
have been unable to keep the mailing list linked to the newsgroup--
the two are currently entirely separate entities, and I do
not see the newsgroup.

You have been reading this on the mailing list part of jewish-music
(which is why the postings arrive in your mailbox).

On the other hand, as some may remember from when things =were=
linked, I will quite happily atempt to persuade people behind the
scenes to post reasonably, but I am not about to load the list
with meta conversation about who should or should not post.

I could go on, but I am doing now what I hate to do. This can
be taken to private e-mail if you have additional concerns.
