The Maiden of Ludmir -- Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre -- New York City

The Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre, in affilation with the Workmen's Circle
presents, "The Maiden of Ludmir", a new musical. Simultaneous English
and Russian Translation is available. This musical features; Zypora
Spaisman, Mina Bern, and with guest artist from London, Bernard
Mendelovitch. The Theatre is located at 123 East 155 Street, between
Park and Lexington. Wednesdays and Sundays Matinees, at 2:00 p.m.;
Evening Performances are Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., Sundays at 5:30 p.m.

December 5, 1996, at 9:00 p.m. EST -- A Chanukah Concert, in New York

Hachalom -- 1994 American Jewish Music Festival Prize Winner

Hachalom will be playing at The West End Cafe in New York City on
December 5th.  The band is comprised of Yehuda Shluker, David
Weissman, Jeff Stone, and Jeff Schiff.  There will also be a special
guest vocalist, Jack Gold.  Yehuda's music won first prize at the
American Jewish Music Festival in 1994 and his style is tailored
toward the young Jewish soul.  The show starts at 9:00 p.m. The West
End Cafe is located at 2911 Broadway (between 113th-114th Streets)

Thursday December 5th, Saturday, December 7th and Sunday December 8th

The Maccabi Players of the Maccabi Association London are staging a
production of "The Sneeze" -- an evening of comedy and music.
The show runs for three nights -- Thursday December 5th, Saturday
December 7th and Sunday December 8th. On Saturday Night, the show will
be performed cabaret style with a two course buffet dinner.

Tickets are 4.00 or 10 for the Saturday night. The club is located
in West Hampstead, London, England.

skilled talents of Abe Gershonitz and Elizabeth Block of Toronto,
Canada.

Fabrangen Project Hope is especially pleased to bring to
D.C. the 12-member OLD WORLD FOLK BAND, one of the top
klezmer bands in the Nation, joined by KLEZMOS, for a Hanukkah
Klezmer Festival on Sunday, December 8th, 7:00-9:00 PM, at Beth
Tikva Synagogue in Rockville.  All proceeds from the concert
go to assist formerly homeless D.C. area families.

Admission to the concert is $15, and $9 for students,

KlezKamp 1996

Living Traditions, Inc. is proud to announce the 12th annual "KlezKamp:
The Yiddish Folk Arts Program" to be held December 22-27 1996, at the
Paramount Hotel in New York's Catskill region.

In honor of our first KlezKamp in St. Petersburg, Russia to be held in
1997, our theme this year will be on the history of the Jews of Russia
and will feature lectures on the life and career of  musicologist Moshe
Beregovskii (including recently discovered wax cylinders made by him in
Volhyn in 1938-39), an examination of the works of Marc Chagall, and the
history of the Moscow Yiddish Art theater; in addition to our full array
of everything, from klezmer instrument classes, vocal coaching and song
seminars, all levels of Yiddish language, poetry, literature and
translation, Yiddish and Russian dance workshops, visual arts, folklore,
a full children's and teen program, theater workshop, and the showing of
the rare 1924 Yiddish silent film "Yidishe Glickn" starring Solomon
Mikhoels and featuring a new live musical score.
