Re: Yiddish performance and klezmer clubs

Alana,
For the REAL Klezmer Club, (we even have the name trademarked!),
come to Machaya Klezmer band's bi-monthly bash at the Chevy Chase Holiday
Inn. We play mostly Klezmer with some Yiddish show tunes, occasional folk
tunes (depending on how many Rumanians/Russians/etc. are in the audience)
ansd some popular couple dancing (we are, after all a wedding band). We
usually son't have a singer (true to Klezmer style) and the food is,
while not kosher, superb.
We have been doing this for almost three years, now, and have a
loyal following of regulars. We lead dancing, singalongs, have open mike
for occasional singers or instrumentalists who show up with instruments
(we try to encourage them to tell us they are coming so we can plan for
them) and try to fulfill any request. The Klezmer Club happens on alternate
Sunday nights. The last one
before our summer haitus will be on June 30. Reservations are strongly
suggested, as we sometimes sell out (we did last time). Call for details:
(301) 656-1500.
