To get started listening to klezmer it's best to listen to the classics
first.
1) Dave Tarras: Yiddish-American Klezmer Music 1925-1955 (Yazoo)
2) Klezmer Pioneers: European and American Recordings 1905-1956 (Rounder)
Then listen to the veterans who are still playing:
3) Klezmer Plus! with Sid Beckerman and Howie Leess (Rounder)
After you've heard the first generation players then it's time to listen to
great new generation players such as:
4) Andy Statman and Zev Feldman "Jewish Klezmer Music" (Shanachie)
5) Kapelye "Levine with his Flying Machine", "Chicken" "On the Air: Old Time
Yiddish-American Radio" (Shanachie)
6) The Klezmatics "Shvaygn=Toyt", "Jews With Horns"
