Jerusalem 3000 - Musical Program

                      THE SILVER MOON TAPESTRY: JERUSALEM
                      A Musical Program for Jerusalem 3000
                              Featuring Liz Magnes
           *********************************************************


Developed specifically for Jerusalem 3000 celebrations (1996 marks the
3000 year history of the city), this program is "woven" around Jerusalem
with many rich textures and threads of different hues to create a special
musical cloth. Medieval church chants, Jewish prayer, Arab folk tunes, Hebrew
popular songs, English melodies and spiritual hymns make up this
unique performance featuring Israeli musician Liz Magnes.

Musical selections will include:

Folktune: "If I Forget You Oh Jerusalem"
Yemenite Song: "Enchanting City"
Babylonian Piut: "Dove Dance"
Nomi Shemer:  "Jerusalem of Gold"

Availability:   September 17 - October 17, 1995

Budget:
Host institution will be responsible for:

     $500 performance fee
     $45 per diem
     A portion of the airfare from Israel
     Accommodations
     Ground transportation
     Technical needs: Piano with microphone attached; microphone
      for the artist

About the Artist:

Liz Magnes was born in Ohio and has lived in Israel with her family
for the past 30 years.  Ms. Magnes studied music at the Mannes
School of Music in New York, and hold a Bachelor of Arts and Music
degree from hebrew University.  She has performed with New York
flutist Jeremy Steig at the International Red Sea Jazz Festival,
with vocalist Sandra Johnson in the US and Israel, with the Royal
Danish National Choir, and with Moroccan born violinist Yeshua
Azulai in programs of east-west duets.  Liz is currently teaching
private students in Jerusalem while she continues to perform in
Israel and abroad.
