SHIRIM - On the Road July 5-8

The Shape of Klez to Come: 
   Shirim will be in the NY region this week on their way to Toronto. Near
Allegheny, July 5th, they will play the Hickey Tavern at 8pm. On July 6th,
they will be at the Calumets Arts Cafe in Buffalo. Then , on Friday July
7th, Shirim performs at the Ashkanaz Festival of Yiddish Music in Toronto-
a free outdoors concert at 8pm at the harbor. 
   Shirim is among the new breed of klezmer artists, with strong links to
the Eastern-European roots, but determined to speak a new voice for
klezmer music.  Their repertoire includes traditional instrumental and
vocal music, new arrangements and reinterpretations of older styles, and
bold new compositions that mark a new territory for klezmer  as a "world
beat" music. This band will surely rock your socks off!
