ANNOUNCING: THE FIRST MIDWEST KLEZMER AND YIDDISH MUSIC INSTITUTE, August
12-13, Skokie, Illinois.  Evening of August 12 will feature an opening
concert with Michael Alpert (of Brave Old World), the Maxwell St. Klezmer
Band, and the Chicago Klezmer Ensemble.  Michael A. will lead dancing at
the conclusion of the concert.  Sunday 8/12 will feature workshops for
musicians and music enthusiasts on klezmer and Yiddish music, and will
conclude with a complete Shtetl Wedding, with food, dance, and all the
music that would be played at a traditional Eastern European Jewish
wedding in the days of the klezmorim and the badkhanim
(bandleader/jesters).  Deadline for registration is July 31; you may
register for any of the three events (Sat. night concert, Sunday
workshops, Sunday wedding) or purchase the whole package ($63, discounts
for students/seniors).
