Music West needs talent/bands

I hope you won't mind me cross-posting this.....
Music West isn't an average kind of conference/music schmooze. It has a
massive World Cup qualifying skateboard championship, and every year showcases
almost 200 unsigned bands, as well as a bunch of signed bands. Bands that
have played in the last few years include NoFX, NoMeansNo, David Byrne, Ali
Farke Toure, .808state, Cadillac Tramps, Beat Farmers, Lowest of the Low,
Moist, Jann Arden, Kashtin, 13 Engines, Facepuller, Meat Beat Manifesto,
Merlin, Maestro Fresh-Wes, Omoide Hatoba, Yothu Yindi, itch, The Meieces,
Coffin Break, Pure, Hardship Post, Sloan, MDC, JFA, Bass is Base, Malhavoc,
Monster Voodoo Machine, Fifth Column, Low Pop Suicide, Robbie Robertson, The
Rheostatics and so on and so forth and scooby dooby dooby. And hundreds of
GREAT unsigned bands.

We had over 200 A&R reps last year (if you are interested in that kind of
thing) but also have sessions between indy labels and distributors and bands
where anyone associated or funded with a major label is NOT invited and not
allowed to attend.

                                  MUSIC WEST SEEKS NEW MUSIC

(Vancouver, B.C.) -- If you are an unsigned original artist, this is an
opportunity you won't want to miss! The Swatch Music West Festival is
calling for submissions from developing artists in Canada and around the
world. Over 200 solo acts and bands chosen to take part in the four day
festival will have the opportunity to showcase for independent and major
record labels and industry professionals, including A&R representatives from
Canada, Japan, Australia, Europe and the U.S.

The Festival, held May 11-14 in conjunction with Music West '95, is
continuing to grow into one of the most important music industry events in
the world. Every year, talented new artists are rewarded with coveted
publishing, management and record deals.

To be eligible for a showcase position, you must currently perform original
material live. All submissions must be accompanied by a completed Music West
application form and a $10 processing fee. The Deadline for submissions is
February 15, 1995.

To request an application form, call (604) 684-9338 or fax (604) 684-9337.
