NM.requested that all music be by Jewish composers. As I am most interested in
.baroque music, it is very difficult to find music by Jewish composers. I am
.not up to the level of the Mendelssohn violin concerto, looking for somethin
.less difficult (more in the intermediate range.) If anyone knows anything at
The most obvious examples I might suggest at this short a time in
advance are Gershwin and Bernstein. While they are best known for
musical theater pieces like An American in Paris and West Side Story,
I'm sure there's plenty of other serious music you could find.
Let us know what you choose.
BTW, can anyone tell me what mainstream folk or pop performers since
the sixties are Jewish, besides Barbra Streisand, Bob Dylan and Peter
Yarrow (from PP&M)?
Some performers that I think are Jewish, but I'm not sure about are
Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, and Julie Gold (songwriter for "From a
Distance"). Can anyone confirm these?
