I grew up on a kibbutz, and music was given 2-3 times a week, and as a part of
other classes. We all had to learn the (chalil) recorder in 2nd grade. Songs
were taught and sang weekly. Simple instruments were used by the students ( I
need a dictunary to list them) while learning different tempoes. Movement was
also a part of music lessons.
A music teacher taught all the grades in the kibbutz.
In addition, talented kids were learning how to play an instrument in
privately, using many other teachers from the kibbutz or nearby towns.
If you want to know more, I'll gladly check for you what is the present
situation in the schools.
