To any and all:
Shalom! I have a CD by Avi Toledano entitled "Marocker" which
has a cut (#6) that I have been trying to translate. The song is entitled
"Fire of Life" and lists credits as Ehud Manor and "folk." I think I've
got the general drift, but the third verse/stanza, which ends with "kol
od ata bo-eyr" (all else you burn/consume?), remains a mystery. The CD
insert contains the lyrics in Hebrew, without vowels, of course. Is there
anyone out there familiar with this song who can help?
From reading back issues of jewish-music it seems there are many
whose Hebrew is better than mine, which I learned in Hebrew school, mostly
through studying the Bible. Understanding the real meaning behind the
lyrics of contemporary Israeli music is an area in which I would
appreciate assistance. Asking Israelis seems the obvious approach, but still
provides only one person's interpretation.
