Oops, didn't mean to mail that last one without finsihing it. Anyway, as I
was saying, the groups leader has a great World Music label called
globestyler. 3 Mustafas 3 is very infuenced by Jewish sounds as well as
other eastern European/Baltic/Arabic stuff. Deifintely their music can be
described as World Soup.
I believe we can have some common understanding of the category called
Jewish music as it encompasses several very distinct types of music. If we
look to create an alternative Jewish music it seems that it must, by
definition, stray from the what we understand as "Jewish" music. I
incorporate the idioms of avnate garde (read noisy) jazz to creat my
alternative. Is it still Jewish? Is that a rhetorical question?
