I guess everybody has their own way of laining. I tried the method of learning
the laining backwards, but it never really worked for me. After laining semi
intensely (i do alot of freelance, but i still haven't lained the whole torah
yet) for 2 yrs, my set routine, is to break up an aliyah into 3-5 pesukim
parts and learn each 'mini-aliyah' and then join them all together. when i'm
on a roll (or is it role??), i can usually learn a column in the tikun in
45 min- 1 hr. In terms of books, i really haven't seen many around. I've just
been trying to pick up all the rules from different rabbeim and friends who
are expert in these matters. Kol Tuv.
