My volunteer adult choir wears white blouse/skirt or white shirt/dark suit.  
I'm encouraging but not requiring the women to wear long skirts.  I really 
like the uniformity and the comraderie the similar clothes help create.  The 
"uniform" also works beautifully when we do an interfaith service with a 
church choir; for that one, the church choir leaves their choir robes in the 
closet and instead matches our black-and-white.  At Confirmation our 
students wear white robes, and our rabbis always wear robes at services, but 
I really don't think my adult choir would want to do the same -- although I 
remember feeling very special putting on a blue choir robe in my high school 
chorus.  Maybe it just has to do with being comfortable with what you're 
used to.

While I'd love the appearance of an adult choir with each member wearing a 
tallit, I'm not comfortable with telling people they must wear one.

My youth choir (grades 3-8) has no uniform (other than choir t-shirts which 
they can wear to rehearsals and outings but not to services), and I don't 
want to do the black-and-white thing with them.  But I've thought of, say, 
long royal blue skirts for the girls and blue ties for the boys along with 
their own white shirts.  I'd love it and I think at least the girls would, 
too.  The issue, though, is both finances and some people not wanting any 
kind of "enforced" uniform for the kids, and that's why so far nothing's 
happened.

I also loved the suggestions for bulletin column names.  I chose "Chai 
Notes," which seemed especially appropriate because Chai is my Hebrew name.
