Dear All,
Chag Sameach to all of you. Good things to share....firstly, my family is the
proud owner (?) of our first sukkah. My husband went into the woods behind our
house and cut down a bunch of small limbs that needed to come down anyway and
he built the most magnificent sukkah using twine and bungee cords. Last week,
when New England got hit with the terrible wind and rain from Floyd, I was
sure it would come down. But it stayed up, nice and strong! I am so pleased
with it that I'm bursting! (there are times when gushing is a must)
Second, I sang a few sukkot songs at Shabbat services last night. I shared the
Julie Silver version of Under the Sukkah which was very well-received. And we
sang Dean Friedman's song In My Sukkah. People loved it. After the word sukkah
in the last part of the chorus....in my sukkah, in my sukkah...I added a
tongue click. Try it, it's cute and people had fun doing it. And I shared a
song that Cantor Josee Wolf taught at HN this past summer....it's a song for
the festivals....V'samachta B'chagecha" and it was great! I begin teaching at
a religious school, 4th through 7th graders, on Monday (I've been in front of
lots of kids but not the older ones) and I'll be trying some of the other
Sukkot songs that have been recommended on the list as well. Wish me luck!
Just found out that my daughter's high school graduation is the weekend of HN
next June. It will be a wonderful day however, I am also completely bummed
out. Gee, do you think it would make sense to fly in, fly out, and fly back
in!?! I thought about calling her school and asking them to change the
graduation date. I have a very important conference to attend. No kidding, I
loved HN and will sorely miss all of you next June.
Be well. Regards to all,
Ellen Allard
