[HANASHIR:3964] Re: Catching My Breath

WHAT KIND OF RINGERS--- WERE THEY BELL RINGERS OR PROFESSIONAL SINGERS. IF
PROFESSIONAL, MAY I INQUITE WHAT YOU HAD TO PAY THEM AND HOW MANY REHEARSALS
WERE THERE. IF THEY WERE BELL RINGERS, WHERE DID YOU GET THE MUSIC FROM?

WE USE A LOT OF DEBB'S MUSIC, PLUS MY SON-IN-LAW WALLY SCHACHET BRISKIN'S
MUSIC. IN ADDITION WE USE THE ASHREINU BEFORE THE SH'MA AND MICHAELSON'S
LET US ADORE.

A THOUGHT. A LOT OF US ARE FINDING WONDERFUL MUSIC. I AM WONDERING IF,
WITH THE AUTHOR'S PERMISSION, WE CAN'T ALL GET COPIES OF IT. EVEN IF WE
HAVE TO PAY SOME ROYALTIES.

 Dropkin's "Pitchu Li", Leon Sher's "Ad-nai,
>Ad-nai",Julie Silver's "Sim Shalom" and Karen Daniel's "Adon Olam." Slowly
>but surely.

THERE IS A WONDERFUL JEWISH MUSICOLOGIST... JACK BIELAN WITH VALLEY OUTREACH
SYNAGOGUE IN LOS ANGELES (818) AREA CODE). HE IS NOT KNOWN TO YOU, BUT I
PROMISE THAT HIS CHOIR, (ALL VOLUNTEER) IS POSSIBLY THE BEST IN CALIFORNIA.
THEY USE A LOT OF HIS MUSIC.

FOR THE RECORD, WE ALTERNATE BETWEEN HH BARCHU AND JACKS. BETWEE DEBBY'S
SH'MA AND ASHREINU SH'MA. I MAKE SURE I KEEP SOME HIGH HOLIDAY NUSACH TO
KEEP THE OLD TIMERS HAPPY.

ONE OTHER THING-- ALTHOUGH I CAN'T SING AND AM NOT A SONG LEADER, I DO
CHOOSE MY MUSIC CAREFULLY. MY CANTORIAL SOLOIST HAS A NICE VOICE, IS A GOOD
MUSICIAN BUT IS HARD OF HEARING. SO WHEN I SAID "WE WILL HAVE A MOMENT OF
REMEBRANCE TO BE FOLLOW BY THE AIL MALAY RACHAMIM, HE BEGAN THE AIL MELAY
IMMEDIATLY. .

AND IF YOU WANT TO HEAR THE STRANGEST, I PASSED OUT RIGHT BEFORE THE KOL
NIDRE SERVICE BEGAN AND WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL SO I MISSED IT
COMPLETELY.
