[HANASHIR:3637] Re: "local customs"

We've found that teaching anything new related to ritual comes easiest
through prior education and explanation. We've tried a 15 minute session
before Services, as well as inviting parents to the Religious School
assemblies where the kids are also learning the newer melodies. You'd be
surprised how many are eager to learn newer trends when they are presented
opportunities on their own....and not influenced by "peer pressure" not to
like it when in a group setting (i.e. Friday night Services at the oneg).
We've also found that often the individuals who are negative about attending
Services and not knowing the music due to a change are those that don't
regularly attend. As with Jewish congregational life - all opinions are
valid! Good luck!
