Hello and thanks to all fellow Hava Nashirites!
I returned to L.A. via Boston after visiting my sister and her new baby for
a few days and have enjoyed reading all of your postings. You have all so
eloquently and personally described the awesome experience we had at Hava
Nashira this year. For me these five days had a little bit of everything!
There were moments of exaltation, relaxation, comfort and warmth, humor,
love, insecurity, friendship and most of all... beautiful spiritual music
inspired by a relationship to G-d and Torah and love of Jewish values and
beliefs. I felt so at home and connected with all of you. A special
thanks, also, to Debbie, Donny, Jeff, Craig, Ellen, Josee and Jerry Kaye for
making this gathering of Judaic music lovers possible. This year's
programming was the best yet! (This was my third time in attendance). My
favorite moments included Craig and Donny's composition class with it's
depth, transparency and special warmth, Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat with
everyone's version of Lecha Dodi adding it's own kind of ruach to a
wonderful service and those special relaxing moments spent with a few,
sharing, making music with new friends and old and sometimes a combination
of both. As always, thanks to Debbie Friedman for igniting a special spark
in me some 13 years ago at Ildywild and for still being by our sides to this
day, holding hands and hearts, sharing your special spirit and passion. You
and all those who come to teach and share this beautiful music together are
forever an inspiration to me. Hope to see you all next year!
