[HANASHIR:3138] A deeper tingling

Having attended Hava Nashira for the fifth time, I felt a little jaded
whilst waiting with my Hava Nashira virgin Brit friend Gideon at O'Hare
airport. He was urging me to get everyone in the fast food eating area to
start singing 'Ki va moed'. I remember that blown away feeling of attending
hava nashira for the first time, the power of the music, the talent of the
faculty, the power and empowerment of creativity, but at that moment I
wasn't in that place. Your first hava nashira is like your first kiss,
never been there before, new tingling excitement, a whole new world of
otherness, stimulating the senses and your emotions.

However your first kiss, is seldom going to be the deepest or most
meaningful experience in your life. For me this year Hava Nashira more
resembled a mature love affair, it reached deeper into my spiritual and
musical psyches.

As a keen dancer I had much sympathy with Rich Glaubers remarks re last
year and the lack of movement. However having Craig Taubman on the faculty
brought about a significant change. He places much emphasis on movement in
how he works (and in how he writes his music it feels) and this seemed to
have an effect on the rest of the faculty who were all witnessed jiggling
about at a far higher rate of jiggles per day than recorded over the last
five years. For me this certainly made it a more whole and pleasurable
experience.

The other big difference felt like a more relaxed approach from the faculty
in the general running so spontaneous rejoicing happened very well, and
seemed to be the highlight for most people. This year felt more trusting
somehow.

So thanks and congratulations to the faculty for putting on a fabulously
exiting seminar of love, oh and Jewish music!
