I like to think that shouting "hey" in the right rhythm, in the right place
adds spirit to a piece. Now if they shouted that at you while you were
teaching them, that would be rude! Have these people listen to some "Big
Band" stuff. Adding vocals (no matter what kind) is part of a style that
shouldn't be discouraged. It's fun to sing & shout if done correctly!
