I own three guitars. One of them is the very first one I ever had -- a Yamaha
that I got when I was thirteen. I have now passed it along to my pre-teen son.
About five years I purchased a beautiful mahagony acoustic (Canadian Martin) and
last year I purchased a Takamini acoustic/electric. Both of these guitars cost
much more than I could afford. However, I shrewdly watched them and waited.
Many music stores will greatly reduce their prices on more expensive merchandise
at the end of the year. They do not want to pay taxes on the inventory so
sometimes it is better for them to reduce the price and move the merchandise.
In
both situations, this is what I was able to do. I paid cash and this reduced
the
price even further because they got their money right away. So, I now have two
beautiful guitars at rock bottom prices. Get to know the owner of your local
music store. Let him or her know you are interested in a particular guitar, try
it out and see if they will work with you. It worked for me.
