Under U.S. copyright law, a work is defined as follows:

"A work is ''created'' when it is fixed in a copy or phonorecord for the
first time; where a work is prepared over a period of time, the portion of
it that has been fixed at any particular time constitutes the work as of
that time, and where the work has been prepared in different versions, each
version constitutes a separate work."

I believe the recording of you singing your song would be a copyrighted
work; the words and chords written out would be a separate work.  There are
probably some gray areas here, as in most areas of the law, and I'm not a
copyright expert.  But the fact that you don't have sheet music written out
does not mean your work is not protected by copyright.
