As a "charter member" of the over 40 club, I say-- Keep it up!! The only
difference is that I would NOT give up on trying/volunteering to songlead for
these kids.
I would say though that there is a difference between songleading for NFTY
type events( 15-18 year olds) and being a music teacher.(A highly respected
and skilled art too- LOL!) NFTY kids are quite fickle and they "think" they
know who's "cool" and who's not. Show them just how "cool" you are!!! We know
how to do all this stuff, we just have to convince them that our age( and
EXPERIENCE!) really makes a huge difference. (In a VERY good way!!)
I thought when I was 23 or so that I'd stop this sort of thing. I guess now
that I'm "older" I just didn't know that much!! I can't ever imagine NOT
songleading somewhere, somehow.
