I have sung at a few Othodox weddings in England, and (at the ones I have
been to) there is a standard minimal set of pieces, plus the option to add
extras if wanted. Off the top of head, 'Baruch Haba' and 'Mi Adir' are
standard at the beginning, and I have heard 'Eishet Chayil' and
Yerushalayim Shel Zahav as the bride enters the shul. Sheva Brachot are
done over the second glass of wine. There is a classic traditional Chazanut
recording of the Sheva Brachot by Mordechai Hershmann. It is also quite
popular to sing 'Im Eshkachech' (psalm something - If I forget the Oh
Jerusalem), just before the glass is broken.

Before I forget, the music for some of the traditional wedding pieces is in
a book called 'the Voice of Praise and Prayer' published many years ago by
the English United Synagogue. (I'm sure there are many others, but that is
the only source I know).

Subject:  [HANASHIR:2551] Wedding songs




I've been asked to provide all the music (vocally) for a wedding in
May.  I have never been to a Jewish wedding that used a singer.   I am
really clueless and starting to panic.   Please give processional
suggestions and tell me what other songs to interject during the
service.  The Rabbi wants me to sing something called Sheva Berachot.
Where can I find the melody lines for this?
