Rich, I believe that we already have a major strain of "gospel" music in our
liturgy.  I have attended several Modern Orthodox synagogues, as well as
Chabad congregations, which have adopted some very exciting themes.  Check out
any Chabad on a Friday night...when they greet the Sabbath with "Lecha Dodi",
some groups dance around the synagogue, clapping wildly!  OK, so it's not
Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act, but....
