[HANASHIR:2427] gospel

I'm reading this morning's Kansas City Star and came upon the following
news item. Thought the group would be interested. "SHOUT
HALLELUJAH!Looking for an intense gospel experience? Check out this
one. KC organizer Troy Miller is helping put the finishing touches on
the Ivanhoe Benefit Concert May 16 at RDLS Auditorium in Independence.
Should be a doozie. On tap will be singers DEBBIE FRIEDMAN ("the premier
Jewish songwriter/artist in the world today", Miller says) and Albertina
Walker ("her title is queen of gospel". Throw in 700 or so area gospel
warblers and you start to get the picture. "I saw Friedman about a year
and a half ago and told her about the event and she told me she has a
song she wrote that she's been waiting for five years for a gospel choir
to perform," Miller says. "And she's allowing Michael Charles, the
Minister of music at St. James United Methodist, Mayor Cleaver's
church,to gospelize this number for a world premier." If I can find
out more, I think I will try to drive to Kansas City and go. Linda
Solvay.... are you interested? Nana Lister
