[HANASHIR:2188] The Dreskin Purim Parodies

A word from our list-owner:

Ellen. This was not at all out of line! You handled it with aplomb.

I'll do this "commercial" once, since it's probably not right to blow our
own
horns on line, but since the question was asked about Purim. My husband
(Rabbi
Billy Dreskin) and I have done Purim to many shows, such as Lion King,
Hunchback of Notre Dame, Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. We
have new words to all of the songs, and even have them written in to the
piano
score. We do one each year with a congregational choir of all ages - two
rehearsals, everyone is given a tape to practice with, congregants make a
big
backdrop, lots of noise and costumes and funny (if I do say so myself)
narration of the Purim stories and sections of the Megillah traditionally
chanted. We have to do two shpiels each year, since our sanctuary only
holds
200, and it's packed both times.

I do have a demo tape ready to send with selections from most of the above
if
you'd like a taste. We share the entirety of a show (all the music for
piano and voice, script for the shpiel, rehearsal tape) for a $250.00
donation
to the Rabbis' Discretionary Fund of Woodlands Community Temple (tzedakah).
If you are interested, feel free to email me privately with your address and
I'll send you the demo.
End of commercial. Sorry if I was out of line.
